Stocking Fillers;Waste not Want not!

As I come to the end of my Christmas shopping I have begun to think about the whole stocking filler idea. Are we filling our children's stockings with things just for the sake of filling or are we thinking carefully about this tradition?
Our attitude to shopping is changing - we are starting to think more sensibly about what we buy and asking ourselves ' Do I really need it?' A new concept indeed to us, as for the last few years we have been conditioned to ' Want it, have it!'
Well this got me thinking. Are we still applying this concept to our children's stocking fillers? Or are we making more considered purchases?
Although we will always spend on our children, even in recession, we are thinking more carefully about what we buy for them. We are buying more luxury items that have a sense of nostaligia to them, to be keepsakes and heirlooms.

Children will always remember their favourite toys and their bedrooms. Customers often comment on how much our products become family heirlooms, or how little Johnny carries his Babyface Blanky everywhere with him. I myself have fond memories of my Holly Hobby bedroom as a child in the 70s. Even though I'm not too sentimental myself, I can't bring myself to get rid of my Holly Hobby duvet! Maybe I live in hope of having a daughter after two sons to pass it on to - and as retro is in, I might be on to a winner by holding onto it!
Well, that brings me to my conclusion; Keep filling those stockings, but shop carefully. Buy something they will remember!

Christmas Shopping

So we are officially 9 working weeks from Christmas. Some of us get ahead of our Christmas shopping making sure that we have made our purchases well in advance of Christmas and this brings all sorts of benefits.
1. Guaranteed availability and stock of what we want.  – if we want to go out and buy our Christmas shopping now we are going to get want we want.
2. No logistical problems  – If we want or need things to be delivered before Christmas they are going to arrive in good time as we are not subject to what the post office lovingly refer to as “Autumn pressure”.
Do your Christmas shopping now. Avoid the queues. Avoid the rush. Avoid the hassle. Avoid making a bad “purchase” Avoid paying over the odds because you are desperate.

Junior Duvets

Having Trouble finding Junior duvet sets after you convert your cot to a bed? We are one of the few companies to supply these as we 've been told by many of our customers. The thinking behind it was that more and more people are buying cotbeds rather than a cot these days. Cotbeds convert to a Junior bed , so we thought why not supply Junior bedding! You can still use the cotbed quilt you originally bought for your baby but add a duvet in and save yourself doing a total revamp!!! Infact we sell junior and single duvets in all our ranges so you can still keep the look with the rest of your accessories when your child moves up to a single bed!! How's that for resourceful!!!
For girls we have Rosie, Dolly Mixture, Fairy and our Pink, Green and Lilac Ginghams to choose from and for boys check out our Under The Sea, Aeroplanes, Fire Trucks, Red , Blue and Navy Ginghams.

Cotton Crisis

In the last few months there has been a huge increase in prices on cotton, due to the flooding in Pakistan. This is starting to have a knock-on effect over all industries that rely on the supply of cotton, including ours. It will be an interesting few months and we will be watching closely to see what happens...

"Textile and clothing firms around the world are bracing themselves for more disruption to cotton supplies and a possible rise in garment prices after the worst floods in decades hit Pakistan's cotton industry, squeezing companies just as they head into the important summer buying season." Just-Style

"The expected lower production and a sharp drop in stocks for the 2009-2010 seasons has already increased cotton prices and would further rise in view of escalating prices of cotton in the international markets, which textile sector would have to bear. Lint price in the international market was 85 cents per pound on August 23, 2010 with an increase of 6 cents per pound."  Daily Times
